A. Data Description
The data analyzed in this research are the result
of the questionnaire and test. The research description is based on the score
from questionnaire to know the students’ vocabulary mastery. The test is used
to know the students’ reading skill in 7th grade students of SMP
*beep* Surakarta in the Academic Year of 2016/2017. The obtained of the data
can be described as follows:

From the
instrument of students’ vocabulary mastery questionnaire with 20 item numbers,
the data that is obtained describe that the highest score is 97 and the lowest
score is 23. The mean is 61,3; the median is 60; and the mode is 60. The
standard deviation is 18,22. The frequency distribution data of students’
vocabulary mastery is presented in table 2 and the histogram is presented in
figure 1 as follows:

Table 2
shows how many students who got the highest, middle, and the lowest score of students’
vocabulary mastery in percentage. Based on the histograms at figure 1 above,
clearly shows that students who got the highest score range of 42-60 is about
50% or 5 students. The students with score range of 23-41 is 1 student,
followed by 61-79 are 3 students, and 80-98is 1 students.

The data of
students’ reading skill was collected by using a test. The highest score is 77
and the lowest score is 40. The mesn is 64,7 and the standard deviation is
10,01. The frequency distribution of the reading skill score is presented at
the table 5 and histogram is given at figure 2.

Table 5 shows
that the students’ percentage of 40-47 is 10%. 0% is the number of students’ in score
range 48-55 and the number 30% is come from score range 56-63. The highest percentage is 50% that is in
64-71 range of score. Students’ percentage of 72-79 is 10%.

Figure 2 clearly
shows that the students who got the highest score range of 64-71 are 4
students. The students with score range of 72-79 are 2 students and students
with score range 40-47 is 1 student, followed by 3 students in the score range
of 56-63.
